Honoring Oshun
Creek Clean-Up & Restoration Day in Dimond Canyon
Our partnership with Friends of Sausal Creek was born from the shared understanding that protecting our waterways is both a cultural and ecological responsibility. In our traditions, Oshun, the Orisha of rivers and fresh waters, represents love, fertility, and the life-giving force that nourishes all beings. Fresh water is not only a sacred symbol—it is the very essence of survival, sustaining plants, animals, and people alike. By joining in the restoration of Sausal Creek, we honor Oshun through action: caring for the rivers that carry her spirit, protecting the fresh waters that sustain life, and teaching our community the deep connection between spiritual practice and environmental stewardship. This partnership reminds us that to honor Oshun is to protect the lifeblood of our earth.
Cabildo Ile Orisha, in partnership with Centro Manos Morenas and the Friends of Sausal Creek, is proud to announce a community creek clean-up and restoration day! Together, we will honor both our cultural and environmental traditions by caring for the waters that sustain life.
