Fundraiser for Clean Water in Ibadan, Nigeria
In Ibadan, Nigeria, thousands of families struggle every day without reliable access to safe drinking water. Studies show that over 73% of residents survive on less than 20 liters of water per day, far below the World Health Organization’s recommended minimum. The majority depend on shallow wells and boreholes that are often contaminated, placing their health, education, and livelihoods at risk. Nationally, nearly 60 million Nigerians lack access to potable water—proof that water scarcity is a crisis that cannot be ignored. In Oyo State—which includes Ibadan—only 14% of the population has access to safely managed water from improved sources; the vast majority rely on contaminated or unreliable water supplies. 73.1% of residents accessed less than 20 liters of water per day, falling well below the WHO’s recommended 25 – 50 liters per person per day.
As Cabildo Ile Orisha, in partnership with the Omilere Alaragbo Global Foundation, we are committed to acting. In the spirit of Oshun orisha of fresh waters we are raising funds to dig three water wells in Ibadan. These wells will provide clean, safe drinking water to over 3,000 people, easing daily struggles and restoring dignity to entire communities.
